Overindulgence is ruining families. I recently talked to a counselor who attended one of my seminars. He was in tears because he blended love with overindulgence and created a 35 year old son who only calls him when he needs money or help getting out of trouble. This is a common reaction that overindulged children are having. Overindulging children creates "CONDITIONAL LOVE" which hardens their hearts. They love their parents when their parents give them what they want. They don't love their parents if their parents don't give them what they want.Also, the culture has changed and is promoting entitlement. When I was 16-years-old I told my parents they should buy me a car, they giggled! When I told them my buddy Steve's parents where buying him a car, they laughed - because they knew Steve's parents would not buy him a car. Today, when your children say their buddy's parents are buying him or her a car, they are not lying. It is true! This creates "PARENT PRESSURE", making parents feel out of sinc if they do not buy their children a car.
